Snyder Communications Inc., Bethesda, MD, yesterday acquired PromoTech Research Associates, Louisville, CO, a pharmaceutical marketing communications and direct marketing firm. The terms of the acquisition, which will be treated as a pooling of interests for accounting purposes, were not disclosed. PromoTech specializes in providing outsourced pharmaceutical marketing services, including the distribution of samples and educational materials to sales representatives and physicians. Snyder said the acquisition, when combined with its own healthcare business, would give it “the ability to reach a previously untapped market — doctors who do not participate in traditional sampling from pharmaceutical companies.” It was not immediately known whether the acquisition would result in any layoffs or management changes or whether PromoTech would maintain its Colorado offices.
