The 33rd annual John Caples International Awards, honoring the best in direct and interactive marketing around the world, is open for entries. Partnering for the third consecutive year with DMNews and parent company Haymarket Media, the awards recognize the creative minds behind the best solutions to the most challenging marketing problems from around the world.

Andi Emerson, a direct marketing pioneer, founded the Caples Awards in 1978, naming the show after the legendary copywriter John Caples.

Emerson wanted to reward not just the agencies behind the industry’s best creative work, but also the individuals responsible for the ideas that define the work and the industry as a whole. Today, a group of nearly 50 international country chairs help bring a global perspective to the awards.

The awards have always evolved to reflect the technologies that define and empower direct marketing, and this year is no different. Based on industry demand, the 2011 Awards will recognize successful use of emerging media in four new categories: mobile app, viral video marketing, launch campaign and creative use of technology. As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, marketers are challenged to continuously learn and deploy new tactics.

Last year, nearly 80 creative directors from around the world judged more than 800 entries from 23 categories during a two-day judging event in New York.

The judges’ verdicts were handed down to cheers from the winners at Manhattan’s glitzy Capitale.

The deadline for entries is approaching – September 27 – so don’t miss your opportunity to win a John Caples International Award for your agency, client or colleague.
